India America I2U2 in a Gigantic Food Park initiative. UAE is to invest US$ 2 Billion in Mega Food Parks in India under the I2U2 initiative.
India, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States make up the I2U2 Group. The I2U2 group wants to collaborate on “shared investments and new projects in water, energy, transportation, space, health, and food security.”

The I2 stands for India & Israel. The U2 stands for USA and UAE.
Their first Summit was held on 14th July 2022 with the participation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Joe Biden, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid, and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Vision of I2U2
With a particular focus on joint investments and new initiatives in water, energy, transportation, space, health, and food security, this unique group of nations seeks to use the vitality of their societies and entrepreneurial spirit to address some of the biggest challenges facing the entire world.
Following is the joint statement released by the White House
“We intend to mobilize private sector capital and expertise to modernize infrastructure, advance low carbon development pathways for our industries, improve public health and access to vaccines, advance physical connectivity between countries in the Middle East region, and jointly create new solutions for waste treatment, explore joint financing opportunities, connect our startups to I2U2 investments, and promote the development of critical emerging and green technologies, all while ensuring near- and long-term food and energy security.”
I2U2 Food Parks in India – UAE investment of US$ 2 Billion
According to the joint announcement released by the White House
UAE will invest $2 billion USD to develop a series of integrated food parks across India that will incorporate state-of-the-art climate-smart technologies to reduce food waste and spoilage, conserve fresh water, and employ renewable energy sources
India will provide appropriate land for the project and will facilitate farmers’ integration into the food parks
U.S. and Israeli private sectors will be invited to lend their expertise and offer innovative solutions that contribute to the overall sustainability of the project
The I2U2 Group will also pursue a hybrid renewable energy project in Gujarat State, India, that will have 300 MW of wind and solar power in addition to a battery energy storage system.
Indian Food Processing Industry
India is World’s Largest Milk Producer. It accounts for 22% of the world’s milk production and is followed by the United States, China, Pakistan, and Brazil.
India is the world’s second-largest producer of fish, after China. For fact finders, India Produces around 9 Million Metric Tons of Fish, amounting to 6 % of the world’s production. China Produces around 59 Million Metric Tons which is about 1/3 of the world’s production
India is the world’s second-largest fruit and vegetable producer with an annual production of 127 Million Tons. China is on top with a production of 554 Million Tons, and the United States comes third with 30.8 Million Tons
India is in 7th place in the Area available for Agriculture. China as usual, takes the number 1 slot.

Indian perspective on I2U2 Food Parks in India
As highlighted in our introduction UAE is to invest US$ 2 Billion in Mega Food Parks in India under the I2U2 initiative. The USA and Israel are providing technical support. They are also looking at other nations to support them in this initiative.
The Indian Embassy in Paris made a statement regarding the Mega Food Parks and requested international cooperation. According to their statement,
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is dedicated to concentrating on raising the processing levels of various food commodities and reducing post-harvest loss of significant agricultural products, consequently focusing on investments in the industry.
They are seeking and collaborating with partners around the world to boost agricultural production.
The Ministry is implementing a comprehensive package scheme, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) that results in the creation of modern infrastructure with efficient supply chain management from farm gate to retail outlet.
several reforms such as the development of farm gate infrastructure, unified agricultural market, etc. to strengthen the agri-food sector in India
